Weymouth's Georgian seafront is an impressive backdrop to the long arc of fine, golden sand. Other attractions include the Nothe Fort, a nearby Victorian fortress.

This trip starts out from London Paddington and follows the Great Western main line as far as Reading. Here, we head south towards Basingstoke and then follow the River Itchen through Hampshire towards the coast. We skirt the famous port at Southampton and continue, skirting the New Forest to reach Dorset. Passengers can choose to alight at beachy Bournemouth or continue through Poole and Dorchester to the seaside resort of Weymouth. As there are no turning facilities at Weymouth, our return journey will be diesel lead as far as Southampton. From here, we retrace our steps back to London Paddington.
