We depart from London Paddington, double-headed, for an express run along the Great Western Main Line towards the Welsh Border. Leaving England we are soon travelling along one of the most beautiful and lesser known routes in Southern Britain, hugging the ever widening Severn Estuary past picture postcard views of both the Bristol Channel and historic towns of Lydney and Chepstow where we cross over the River Wye in full view of its Castle. Sit back and enjoy the relaxed pace of steam-hauled travel as we head into Wales reaching the Capital City of Cardiff by early afternoon.
Our optional excursion to Highgrove will be confirmed in Spring 2021 due to Covid and the current restrictions and closures.
This trip is scheduled to be double-headed by two steam locomotives, one of which will be 61306 Mayflower.
Other steam locomotives that could feature may include; 46201 Princess Elizabeth, 45596 Bahamas, 45699 Galatea, 45690 Leander, 35018 British India Line & various Black Fives.
Rostered locomotives will be updated on the tour page as they are confirmed throughout the year.
